Irini Sarioglou

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Irini Sarioglou (Dr) was born in Istanbul in 1972. She studied French Literature in France and Istanbul and completed her doctoral studies in Birmingham (UK) in Ottoman and Turkish history. She is th Gen Sec of of the Hellenic History Foundation (IDISME) and has published a number of books in English and Greek on the history of the Greek minority in Turkey. She specializes in Modern Greek and Turkish history (19th -20th century). She is the Director of BEYOND BORDERS, International Doc Film Festival of CASTELLORIZO island.

Her filmography includes: Zappeion High School for Girls (Script-Research-Narration-Translation), Letters Never Received (Concept-Research-Script-Narration-Translation), The Exiled (Concept-Research-Script-Narration-Translation), The Silent School (Co-Directing-Script-Research), Imvros and Tenedos islands: A tale of memories (Co-Directing-Script-Research), Mikis Theodorakis' Nea Smyrna, Kastellorizo: On the edge of the Aegean, The East has Set.
