Yiannis Karapiperidis was born in Kavala, Greece in 1972. He studied Photography in Filton College, Bristol and Film and Drama at the University of Reading in the UK. He lives in Athens since 1997. For many years he worked as an assistant director and editor mainly in advertising and television series. In 2004 he was hired by AOB (Athens Olympic Broadcasting) as part of the international team that brought the Olympic Games of Athens, on air. 
For several years, he directed the documentary series for Greek Television, “Eureka” with Antonis Kafetzopoulos and “Pandora's Box” with Kostas Vaksevanis. He has made several festival awarded short fiction films and documentaries well as countless commercials and short form projects. His short film "Zoe's mark" was awarded with a State Quality Award by the Ministry of Culture in 2009. His feature documentary "Mozart in the centaurs' mountain" was selected in Thessaloniki and Halkida documentary festivals in 2020 and was short-listed for best documentary in the London Greek Film Festival of 2021.
